You cross back over the Öresund, this time in safety and in broad daylight, landing in the small city of Helsingör (Elsinore). As soon as you step off the boat, you see the famous castle depicted in Shakespeare's play, Hamlet. This is a wonderful country with generous, kind people, and you decide to settle right here in Helsingör.

You finish your medical training and become a physician. Remembering the Jewish aged you left behind and who were taken to Theresienstadt, you specialize in helping the older members of the community. They and their families deeply appreciate what you are able to do for them, and you spend the rest of your life as a respected and loved member of the community.

When you retire, you have only one regret: You have lost contact with the Jewish community and with the Jewish religion. Perhaps, you think, you could go back. But it is too late. The Danes saved your life, but the war stole your religion.
