The rumor that the Russian army will soon liberate the camp gives you the strength to carry on. Because of your previous training, you are assigned to work in the camp hospital. Conditions for you are somewhat better, but you cannot say the same for the unfortunate sick people who are brought there. The hospital is a place of death, which most inmates avoid even when they are very ill. The doctors operate without anesthetics and perform horrible experiments on prisoners to prove Nazi theories of racial inferiority. Even though you are forced to participate in this medical abuse of human beings, you try to remember every incident. Someday, you will tell the world about the terrible things you have seen.

One day at dawn, you awaken to a great commotion. In the distance, you hear the thudding sound of artillery. Everyone is rushed outside, counted, and then forced to march out of the camp. Anyone who dares ask Where are we headed? is clubbed to death and left by the road. You bow your head and pray for strength to endure this new torture.
